About the director
With a rich experience of close to four decades, there’s hardly any aspect of cinema that Amlan Kusum Ghosh has not explored. He has written and directed a wide variety of films, both fiction and non-fiction, and is known for his profound sense of film grammar. Amlan’s novelties and innovations have enriched cinema of all genres and categories. ‘Sannyasi Deshonayak,’ his debut Bengali feature film with Victor Banerjee in the lead duly supported by the likes of Saswata Chatterjee and Locket Chatterjee has won him nationwide critical acclaim from movie buffs and critics. His documentaries such as ‘The Black Box of History’ have captivated the imagination of one and all.
Film and communication students from all over the country have trained under Amlan. He has lectured on all aspects of filmmaking and creative communication in institutes such as the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), Vidya Bhavan Film Institute, and Marwah Film Studio, Noida.
Amlan has a series of projects lined up for the following months and his fans are eagerly waiting for the next big feature from this outstanding filmmaker and media personality. Apart from filmmaking and writing, Amlan has ventured into other creative spheres such as sculpting and painting and excelled in these artforms as well with a large body of work to his credit. His literary endeavors have also entertained and enriched millions of readers and in view of their popularity, his serialized novels have now been published in the shape of traditional books for lovers of political thrillers. He often says that the underlying theme is the key and that the medium of expression is only a matter of relevance and choice.
Amlan is presently busy in the pre-production phase of his next big feature.
