Calling all staff and faculty with expertise in furniture making.
Niagara College’s Institute for Global Education and Training is looking to support the establishment of a new Centre of Excellence in Furniture Making in a Caribbean country.
The selected expert will provide technical and sector-specific guidance to help shape this exciting initiative, contributing to the growth of sustainable development in the region.
This could be a meaningful opportunity to collaborate with like-minded professionals, influence industry standards and best practices, gain recognition for your expertise, and contribute to meaningful projects with real-world impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising on workshop design and equipment specifications.
- Supporting the development and validation of competency-based curricula
- Assisting with trainer recruitment and capacity building.
- Contributing to programme launch preparations in alignment with national and regional Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) standards.
Qualifications:
- Advanced technical training or degree in furniture making, carpentry, or a related field.
- Minimum of eight years’ experience in furniture design, production, and vocational training, preferably within TVET or skills development projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in equipment selection, workshop setup, and competency-based curriculum implementation.
Duration:
- Short-term consultancy (approximately 10-12 months) with the project’s inception and implementation phases beginning in late 2025.
