May is Sexual Assault Prevention month
This article was published on: May 10th, 2023

May is Sexual Assault Prevention Month in Ontario, an opportunity to raise awareness about the devastating impact of sexual assault, to better understand its deep cultural and historical roots, to support victims and survivors and to work together to stop the violence.
This month, NC students and employees can learn more about sexual assault, witness the strength of survivors, and recognize the accomplishments of organizations working to raise awareness of sexual assault and supporting victims.
The Consent is Key campaign will be promoted via @consentiskeync on Instagram to encourage the College community to learn more about what good consent means and ways we can all prevent sexual assault.

Good consent requires skill: Lecture, dinner and workshop with Karen BK Chan
On May 23, in a collaboration between International and Consent is Key, students can participate in a free dinner and lecture with award-winning sex and emotional literacy educator Karen BK Chan: Good consent requires skill.
The one-hour talk – offered via hybrid delivery – will explore, in plain and honest language, how we can all practice good consent. Students will be able to add the event to their Co-Curricular records and will be entered into a draw for Airpods, Amazon gift cards, and coffee tumblers.
An optional workshop with NC’s Elysia Dardarian will follow to expand students’ understanding of sexual violence.
