Niagara College Awaits You!

As you prepare for your arrival to Canada, it is important to plan how you will travel to Niagara College.

You have several options for transportation – so start thinking ahead to make your arrival smooth and stress-free.

Arriving at the Airport/Port of Entry

When you arrive at the airport or port of entry you should be ready to present the following documents to the border services officer:

  • Valid Passport and/or Travel Document
    • Your passport or travel document must include one of the following:
      • A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) OR;
      • An Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
        • Note: If you have an approved eTA, it will be linked to the passport that you used to apply for your study permit.
  • Letter of Introduction.
    • The visa office sent you a Letter of Introduction when they approved your study permit. This letter has your permit reference number which is used to issue your study permit.
  • Printed Copy of your Niagara College Letter of Acceptance (LoA).
  • Printed Copy of your Niagara College co-op work term letter (if applicable).

  • Letters of Reference.
  • Proof of Financial Preparedness.
    • You must be able to demonstrate you have financial support during your stay in Canada – this can include your tuition receipt showing you have paid your tuition/school fees.
  • Disclosure of Funds.
    • If you arrive in Canada with more than CAN$10,000, you must inform the government officer. If you do not let the officer know, you could be fined, and your funds could be seized. This includes: cash, securities that belong to you (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills), or bankers’ drafts, cheques, traveler’s cheques or money orders.
  • Any other documents recommended by the visa office where you applied.

Note for Citizens or Residents of the United States, Greenland, and St. Pierre et Miquelon:

You can apply for a study permit at the port of entry with all of the appropriate documents.

Airport Pickup Request

Niagara College offers a special airport pickup service from the Toronto Pearson Airport in Toronto, Ontario in Canada to help you arrive at your housing safely and comfortably.

Please Note: Niagara College requires 72 hours notice prior to your departure to secure a vehicle. Booking as early as possible is encouraged for the airport pickup service with a greeter as there are limited bookings available.

Airport Pickup Without Greeter

  • Cost – $200
  • Reserved vehicle to take you directly to your housing
  • After clearing customs, you are encouraged to call the pickup services 24/7 phone number.
  • A vehicle will arrive at your gate’s pick-up zone within 5 – 7 minutes after notifying the pickup service
