Your Child’s Home Away from Home

Each housing option offers a safe and unique opportunity to experience the Niagara community:

  • On-Campus Residence – Modern, fully furnished suites steps from campus, providing convenient access to campus facilities and activities.
  • Homestay – Safe housing with meals and support from a Canadian host family, providing a rewarding cultural experience
  • Landing Pad – 30 days of safe housing, meals, and support with a Canadian family to help ease the transition to Niagara and prepare for longer-term housing.
  • Off-Campus Housing – Affordable, safe, and quality housing near campus, with support from our team and helpful online resources to help your child find accommodation.
Airport pickup: Safe Arrival in Niagara

Planning the journey from Toronto Pearson International Airport to your child’s housing in the Niagara Region helps ensure a smooth and safe arrival experience. Here is what to expect from our Airport Pickup service:

  • A convenient and friendly experience.
  • 24/7 availability
  • A vehicle arriving at your child’s gate’s pick-up zone within 5 – 7 minutes after clearing customs.

From the moment students begin preparing to come to Canada, our teams are available to help them feel informed, confident, and supported. To help your child prepare for ncLIFE, we offer:

Niagara College offers a range of housing options including on-campus residence, homestay, landing pad, and off-campus housing support. Application processes vary depending on the type of housing selected. Each option has its own application steps and requirements.

From arrival to the start of classes, students are guided through key transition steps, including:

  • Airport pickup service from Toronto Pearson International Airport to their housing in the Niagara Region.
  • In-person Orientation activities just before classes start. Students should arrive in Canada in time for Orientation. These sessions help them settle in, meet staff and peers, and become familiar with campus resources.

The academic year is structured into scheduled terms, typically including 14 weeks of classes (7 weeks of instruction, followed by a 1-week break, and then another 7 weeks of instruction). The academic cycle includes Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.

If a student needs additional academic support or is required to repeat a course, dedicated International Student Advisors are available to help them stay on track.

Students can participate in clubs, events, cultural celebrations, sports, leadership opportunities, and social activities that help them build meaningful connections.

Student safety is a priority, supported by campus security services, 24/7 emergency resources, and a welcoming campus community. Safety measures are in place both on campus and in student residences, with support available if needed at any time.

Thanks to generous community donations, several scholarships are available throughout the year. Some examples include:

  • New Student Scholarships and Bursaries for applicants who are applying for their first term at Niagara College and hold a valid offer for a future intake.
  • Returning Student Scholarships based on academic performance, financial need, and volunteerism.
  • International Student Awards based on academic performance and an active co-curricular record through the NC Engage app.

In addition to tuition, students should plan for living expenses such as housing, meals, transportation, and personal costs. Niagara is generally more affordable compared to larger Canadian cities, helping students manage their budget more effectively.

Students may be eligible to work while studying if they meet current Government of Canada requirements and maintain their Study Permit status.

Currently, students may work part-time during academic terms and full-time during scheduled breaks. Employment opportunities may be available both on campus and off campus, depending on the student’s interests, qualifications, and eligibility.

Students can also access Career Services to support their employment goals.

Eligible graduates may qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). For the most current information about the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), including eligibility requirements and application details, please visit the Government of Canada website.
