NC International Entrance Bursaries are available to applicants who currently hold a valid offer for a future intake.

NOTE: Award application deadlines and application instructions can vary depending on the award.
NOTE: In the interest of providing as many bursaries and awards to as many students as possible, a student may receive only one bursary or award per term.
New Student Scholarships and Bursaries Available for Fall 2025, Winter 2026, and Spring 2026

These bursaries are for students who are applying for their first term at Niagara College.

Bursaries Amount Requirements Deadline
EAP to Postsecondary Scholarship
$2,500 – $5,000
Open to students who complete Level 5 of Niagara College’s EAP Program and are entering an academic postsecondary program at Niagara College.

    Award Amounts:
    • $2,500 scholarship toward Term 1 of an academic program at Niagara College.
    • An additional $2,500 is awarded in Term 2, contingent upon achieving a minimum average of 80% in Term 1
    Cannot be combined with Regional Global Scholar Scholarship

English for Academic Preparation Bursary
$750 – $1,500
Open to international students enrolled full-time in the English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program.

Eligible students may receive the bursary for each term they are enrolled in EAP, including both new and returning students.

Award amounts:
  • $1,500 for the four-month offering.
  • $750 for the two-month offering.

Cannot be combined with Regional Global Scholar Scholarship

ESL Online to Postsecondary Scholarship
$2,500 – $5,000
Open to all students who successfully complete Level 10 of ESL Online and transition to an in-person academic program at Niagara College.

Award amounts:
  • $2,500 awarded toward Term 1 of the academic program.
  • An additional $2,500 awarded in Term 2 for achieving an 80% average in Term 1.
Cannot be combined with Regional Global Scholar Scholarship

Language Ready Scholarship
$1,000
Open to new international students starting their first full-time academic postsecondary program at Niagara College.

Application form must be submitted before the first day of class in the student’s first semester at Niagara College.
Niagara College Trailblazer Bursary
$1,500
Open to new international students starting their first full-time academic postsecondary program at Niagara College Winter 2026, Spring 2026, or Fall 2026 from the following regions: India and Nepal.

  • Students must apply to Niagara College on or before April 30, 2026.
  • Students can receive this award only once during their studies at Niagara College.

No application is required; the scholarship is automatically applied to the student’s account after Day 10 of the term start. The bursary will be reflected on their LOA and final invoice.
Regional Global Scholar Scholarship
$2,000 – $3,000
Open to new international students starting their first full-time academic postsecondary program at Niagara College from the following regions: Africa, the Americas, the Caribbean, Central Asia, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), East Asia, Europe, United States of America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania.

Award amounts:
  • An initial award of $2,000 is provided in Term 1.
  • An additional $1,000 is awarded in Term 2, contingent upon achieving a minimum 80% average in Term 1.

  • Students must apply for the scholarship using the designated form before the start of the program.
  • Not applicable to students enrolling in a second program.
Cannot be combined with EAP to Postsecondary Scholarship, ESL Online to Postsecondary Scholarship or the EAP Bursary

Second Program Scholarship
$1,000 – $2,000
Open to international students applying for a second credential at Niagara College.

Award amounts:
  • An initial award of $1,000 is provided in Term 1.
  • An additional $1,000 is awarded in Term 2, contingent upon achieving a minimum 80% average in Term 1.

Cannot be combined with the Regional Global Scholar Scholarship or Language Ready Scholarship.

Returning Student Scholarships

These scholarships are for enrolled students of Niagara College who are not in their first term of study.*

Members of our community have recognized the unique challenges that International students experience, and have generously donated scholarships to assist and celebrate student achievement. The scholarships available through these donations are based on academic performance, financial need, and volunteerism.

* EAP students are not eligible for the Returning Student Scholarships.

As an international education insurance provider, guard.me is committed to investing in education through quality and trustworthy service. This scholarship has been established to support the Niagara College community and to encourage international students to pursue excellence in their field.

Dr. Mary Kilmer Tchalekian Scholarship
$1,000
International student from a Latin American country in a post-secondary program (level 2 and up);
Requirements: Maximum one page statement describing your academic and career goals and how this award will assist you in making a difference upon returning to your country.
“Dr. Mary Kilmer-Tchalekian had the privilege of collaborating on international development projects while she worked in the International Education Division of Niagara College. A former Fulbright scholar, she values the broadened horizons and life-changing experiences that international study embraces.”
Niagara College Student Administrative Council (SAC) International Award
$2,000
Full-time international students studying any NC Post-Secondary Program (Year 2 or higher).
Requirements: International Student. Academic Excellence – minimum 80% GPA; maximum one page statement “How have you taken advantage of the many extra-curricular and volunteer opportunities SAC offers to enrich your life as a student and fulfill your dreams?”.
Current NCSAC Board of Directors members are not eligible to apply.
Community Spirit Award in Memory of Isabel Hernandez Maltos
$500
Awarded to an International Student in any NC ESL or post-secondary program who exemplifies leadership and volunteering qualities at Niagara College or in the community.
Requirements: Write a letter outlining leadership and volunteer opportunities.

International Student Awards for Current Niagara College Students

Niagara College celebrates the academic excellence and meaningful contributions to the College community of its current international students through the International Student Awards, presented each fall and winter term.

No application is required — recipients are selected based on academic excellence and active involvement in co-curricular activities. One current student from each academic school will be selected in recognition of their academic achievement and will be personally notified.
