International Ambassadors
The International Ambassadors Program is a team of dedicated student volunteers that have devoted their time outside of the classroom to representing their cultural heritage to the greater Niagara College community. Ambassadors are trained members of the International Division, capable of assisting with specific recruitment needs, translations, tours, CPOD events, and more.
Become an International Ambassador
As an International Ambassador you will
- Be given the opportunity to contribute your cultural knowledge and expertise
- Gain professional experience to use toward resume building as part of this career focused opportunity
Duties of an International Ambassador include, but are not limited to
- Participating in diversity awareness events for staff and students
- Touring visitors & prospective students around the college in their native language
- Taking part in panels & demonstrations to share cultural experiences
- Communicating with potential students & agents worldwide in your native language
- Acting as a representative of the International Department
Expectations
- Ambassadors can decide which activities they get involved with. It is expected that each member will participate in as many opportunities as they are able to, without interfering with their studies
- Student hoping to become a part of the International Ambassador Program should be comfortable with public speaking
- Experience providing tours is seen as an asset, but is not required
Benefits
- Each experience will be added to the Ambassador’s Co-Curricular Record (CCR)
- Ambassadors will receive a written letter of reference based on their contributions to the program
- Ambassadors will gain experience working in a professional environment, and be provided with constructive feedback on their resume, interview, and work skills.
Each applicant must
- Fill out an application form including a letter of intent
- Submit a resume
- Attend an interview & training session
- Be currently enrolled in a program at Niagara College
- Remain an International Ambassador for the duration of the semester
