October 15

A new wellness activity centre is opening its doors at the Welland Campus to help keep students on track when it comes to their optimal well being.
Located in the Merritt Wing in M102, the Niagara College Therapeutic Recreation Activity Centre -known simply as ‘NC TRAC’ – offers students meaningful resources and therapeutic recreation activities to promote physical, social, cognitive, spiritual and emotional health. In addition to offering registered programs and special events, the centre is also a place where students can drop in for guided relaxation and meditation, cultural programs, or just to break away from academics, and enjoy their leisure time in stress-free, welcoming and inclusive setting.
Incorporating strategies from the field of Recreation Therapy, NC TRAC is also home to a snoezelen room – designed to deliver stimuli to various senses – virtual reality head sets and more.
Located in the Merritt Wing, in Room M102, NC TRAC will be open Monday to Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Centre will host several activities each day of the week. Opening day will kick off on October 15 with Mindful Mondays, featuring a Guided Mountain Meditation from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and a drop-in leisure lounge for the rest of the day (9:30 to 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.).
