CIDA Internships

The IEDD manages the Youth International Internship Program funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Young Canada Works Internationally.  These six-month internship placements for college graduates offer direct experience in an international community setting and often lead to employment for Canadian graduates in international agencies and organizations.  Since 2001, Niagara College has facilitated the placement of about 300 young Canadians in internships in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Ecuador, Germany, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Malta, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, South Africa and Zambia.

The program is part of the Career Focus stream of the Government of Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES). CIDA's IYIP delivers international development assistance in cooperation with a variety of Canadian organizations that, in collaboration with overseas organizations, provide internships in CIDA's priority sectors in international development. Through this program, Niagara College graduates are able to make a contribution to development projects.

Niagara College offers intensive pre-departure training for all interns going overseas through the Young Professional Going Global Program.
