International Development Week Poster Competition!!

This competition aims to promote International Development Week. The competition theme is "What in the World is Global Development" and entries should focus on one or more of the following eight United Nations Millennium Development Goals:

  • Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
  • Achieve universal primary education
  • Promote gender equality
  • Reduce child mortality
  • Improve maternal health
  • Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
  • Ensure environmental sustainability
  • Develop global partnerships for development

Any member of the Niagara College community is invited to enter the competition for free. A collection of entries will be exhibited around the College campuses for the duration of International Development Week.

How to Sign Up

All interested entrants will need to submit a notice of intention to participate that includes a valid email address and full name to interns@niagaracollege.ca by Friday, January 29, 2010.

Poster Requirements
  • Entrants may submit only one entry for consideration.
  • Two coloured copies of an entry must be submitted in either hard copy (A2 – 42 x 59cm) or by email (.jpg or .pdf format)
  • All entries must be original and present the artist's interpretation of the theme ‘What in the World is Global Development?’ Entries containing copyrighted material are subject to disqualification.
  • On the back of each submission, entrants must include their name, the title of the work and the submission date.
  • Posters will be judged by the Organizing Committee on originality, effect, aesthetic value, artistic concept and skill. The decision made by the Organizing committee is final.
Submission Guidelines
  • Entries must be submitted by Thursday, February 4, 2010 to interns@niagaracollege.ca or in person at the International Office (Welland campus - S100; NOTL Campus - W104).

Awards Announcement

A single poster will be selected as the grand prize winner. The winner(s)* will be announced on Friday, February 12 and notified directly via email as well as through Student News and Niagara College’s digital signage.

The Grand Prize winner will receive:

  • Prize package valued at $150.00
  • Certificate of recognition
  • Featured spot on N.C. International website

The 1st Runner Up* will receive:

  • Prize package valued at $75.00
  • Certificate of recognition
  • Featured spot on N.C. International website

The 2nd Runner Up* will receive:

  • Prize package valued at $50.00
  • Certificate of recognition
  • Featured spot on N.C. International website

Please note:

*In the event that an insufficient number of entries are received for the contest, only a grand prize winner will be awarded. Additionally, the Organizing Committee, at any time, reserves the right to cancel or suspend the contest and shall be under no obligation to award the prizes.

*The Organizing Committee reserves the right to reproduce, publish (including in electronic publication) and exhibit select entries for use in future promotional and communication materials without payment.
