How to Apply

Applying to a College or ESL Program

 

ESL Program

To apply to the Niagara College ESL program, you must complete the On-line Application Form or download the ESL Application Form and send it to Niagara College, International Department.  There is no deposit required for the ESL program.

College Regular Programs

To apply to any of the regular programs at Niagara College, you may complete the On-line Program Application Form or you must mail, e-mail or fax a completed Program Application Form, and the documents listed below. Please use the proper name of the program (as listed at www.niagaracollege.ca/programs) you are applying for when completing our application.

Documents needed to apply for a program at Niagara College

  1. High School Transcripts:
    You must provide proof (transcripts) that you have graduated from high school (or midterm transcripts if you are in your final year of high school).

  2. College or University Transcripts:
    You should provide transcripts for all post-secondary education that you have already completed. University transcripts are required for all graduate programs.

  3. Proof of English*:
    If English is your second language, you must prove that you have sufficient English ability before starting your program.

** If you do not hold a Letter of Acceptance from Niagara College, the fee for this test is $50 CAD. If you already hold a Letter of Acceptance from Niagara College, there is no fee.

* If you do not pass the English proficiency test, you will be required to study in the ESL program until you achieve 70% in all advanced level subjects.

What happens after I apply?

  • Confirmation of Receiving your Application - As soon as Niagara College receives your application, we send you or your agent a confirmation of receipt of application by email within 48 hours of receiving your application.
  •  Your Acceptance Package – if you are accepted, you will receive your acceptance package within 2 weeks.  Included will be a considerable amount of information, please read it all.
  • Once you receive your acceptance package, you should start preparing your Student Visa application form for the Canadian Embassy (www.cic.gc.ca)
  • You will need to consider your housing options (Services & Housing)
  • You will need to pay your tuition fees by the due date.
  • Once your visa is approved, please inform the college (international@niagaracollege.ca)
  • Once you have booked your flight, please send your flight information (FLIGHT FORM) to the college.

If you are accepted into your program, your $250 Cdn. non refundable deposit will be applied to your first term's tuition. If you are not accepted, you will receive an explanation why you were not accepted and you will receive a refund of the $250 Cdn.

When should I apply for a program at Niagara College?

For the September start date, all applications received before February 1 will be considered equally. Applications will still be accepted after February 1, but they will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis.  Applications for open programs will be accepted until the start of classes.

For the January start date, if you are applying from outside Canada, you will have to allow enough time for your admission to be processed and to obtain your student visa from the Canadian Embassy or Consulate in your country. This process can take up to four months in some countries.  Applications for open programs will be accepted until the start of classes.

How do I apply for Homestay or the Dormitory?

Send the completed Housing Form to Niagara College with your deposit (dormitory requires a deposit) .   You can send the housing form with your application, or anytime after you have been accepted.  You can send your application by fax or mail or email, or you can apply online. However, the earlier you apply the more likely you will get your selected housing option.
